vanessa + robert had an intimate and elegant wedding on a lovely winter day. their closest family and friends spent the weekend with them at the beautiful barnsley gardens to celebrate their union.
a wedding is such a fun way to start the new year! not to mention it was 60 degrees and sunny on new year’s eve, which made it even nicer to photograph carrie and gregg’s big celebration!
a big thanks to all of the awesome vendors: Leigh Pearce Weddings, K2Productions, Maxie B’s Official, The Farmer’s Wife Antiques, Carla White Hair and Makeup, and Shutterbooth!

well, it has been awhile since we have made a post on the blog. what a better way to jump start some life back into the blog then to share beth and taylor’s gorgeous glam winter wedding!
first, here are some shots of beth in her amazing vera wang gown from her bridal portrait session at the umstead hotel.
beth and taylor started their big day at the umstead hotel.
the umstead was a great location for their first look!
the ceremony was at the cathedral of the sacred heart, downtown raleigh.
after the couple said “i do!” we walked down to the capital building for some photos.
stay tuned for part two of beth and taylor’s wedding and their amazing reception decor by fresh affairs and the cotton room.

we have a family tradition that we started when eliza was one. each year, the day after thanksgiving, we trek up to boone to get our christmas tree. we go get a fresh cut tree from a farm, head into boone for lunch and then go out to valle crusis to get our candy fix from the candy barrels at the mast general store.
eliza is a huge horse lover, so we were so excited when we discovered brown’s choose and cut a few years back. first off gary and linda are great folks and their farm is right down from where i lived when i went to ASU (woohoo, go app!), but the best part is that they run a horse powered farm! buck, their giant horse, pulls the kids up the hill through the trees on a sled and then pulls the trees back down to the bagger. buck also pulls the trees through the bagger. the kids love to run wild through the fields and play hide and seek in the trees. the view of the mountains and being surrounded by christmas trees really gets you into the holiday spirit!
i was so happy to shoot the “choice cuts” story for “our state magazine”. eliza and her cousins had a great time at the shoot too!
We were so fortunate to get a chance to go to Spain and photograph this wedding for such genuinely nice people! Viva el novio y la novia!
Who: Estela and Pablo. They have known each other since high school!
Where: Las Caldas. Asturias, Spain. A tiny little village in the mountains with thermal baths and a sweet hotel that is built around a rock.
We had this whole place all to ourselves, unbelievable. Just us and some stray cats!
