design aglow is such a fabulous thing…..they have so many tools to make photographer’s lives easier! i was thrilled when they asked me to participate in the “what i wish i knew” series that features photographers talking about the hard times and revelations that they had during their first years of business.
i had the support of some great photographers when i started out (and i still go to them for their support!). i love to share and be a total photo nerd with other photographers. it recharges me and gets me excited all over again about photography. last year i started offering mentoring sessions and it has been a great experience for me. if you want more info about a mentoring session email me!
aside from the multiple poisonous snake sightings by the lake this was such a fun cover shoot for charlotte magazine. i love the retro bathing suit!

we have a family tradition that we started when eliza was one. each year, the day after thanksgiving, we trek up to boone to get our christmas tree. we go get a fresh cut tree from a farm, head into boone for lunch and then go out to valle crusis to get our candy fix from the candy barrels at the mast general store.
eliza is a huge horse lover, so we were so excited when we discovered brown’s choose and cut a few years back. first off gary and linda are great folks and their farm is right down from where i lived when i went to ASU (woohoo, go app!), but the best part is that they run a horse powered farm! buck, their giant horse, pulls the kids up the hill through the trees on a sled and then pulls the trees back down to the bagger. buck also pulls the trees through the bagger. the kids love to run wild through the fields and play hide and seek in the trees. the view of the mountains and being surrounded by christmas trees really gets you into the holiday spirit!
i was so happy to shoot the “choice cuts” story for “our state magazine”. eliza and her cousins had a great time at the shoot too!
bob timberlake has his own little slice of north carolina paradise in lexington, nc. it was such a pleasure photographing bob timberlake’s studio for our state magazine. he has the most amazing collections of anything and everything from the old south.
