the senior model photoshoot is one of my most favorite days of the year! after weeks of dreaming, planning, pinning, prop making and shopping it is so rewarding to see my creative vision come to life. the senior model sessions would never work without the amazing team that i have and the super seniors that i select each year. a huge thank you to carla white, kallos salon, sarah broyhill, ann loftis, melea and cliff schneider!
this year’s woodland wonderland senior model shoot was one for the books! the girls, the wardrobe and the styling were on point, but mother nature threw us a curve ball. just as the last few girls were finishing up with hair and make-up the bottom fell out of the sky. it poured and there was no end in sight until after dark. as a natural light photographer you have to adapt or die! although some of my plans for locations and lighting did not work out i am so happy with the imagery that we were able to create at this senior model shoot. my seniors did not let the pouring rain dampen their mood. we embraced the monsoons and danced in the rain!
these girls were amazing! they embodied the spirit and style of the 50’s. the red muscle cars, the drive in restaurant, the amazing retro hair, make-up and styling…..it all came together to make this one of my favorite senior model fashion shoots yet! thank you @carlawhitebeauty!
yaaay mom for an awesome job styling these two cuties for their Directions USA Model & Artist Management comp card shoot!
you gotta love a 10 year old sweet looking little girl who can also rock out on her very own electric guitar!
this warm sunshine and the upcoming daylight savings time change makes me so happy! i am ready for spring, but it also means i only have a couple more weeks to catch up on all of my winter projects! one of my goals for 2015 is to try to keep up with my family photos. here are some of my favorites from a winter trip to crested butte, the cutest little colorado town ever! we had such an amazing time doing every snow activity that we could think of when we visited over christmas break.
carmen is one of the nicest people that i know. seriously, this girl is so thoughtful, sweet, intelligent and not to mention, absolutely gorgeous! i love carmen’s vintage style.
i was so excited to get out all of my camping props for this session. i have been wanting to do a stylized camping session for a while and emma, rachel and hannah were just the girls to make it all happen! they are three of my whitebox senior models for 2014. it was so much fun getting to know them!
jess is the real deal. down to earth, gorgeous and fun to be around! she is a directions usa model. we met up in charletson for a great shoot! i had so much fun with her. i did all of her styling and hair. it was like playing with a life sized barbie!
she looks amazing in these anthropologie sailor inspired linen pants.
jess definitely channeled her inner audrey hepburn with this look. this super cute vintage style dress is from one of my favorite stores, altar’d state.
this dress screams charleston to me. it is another great dress from altar’d state.
i met the wood family at a lovely horse farm in pinehurst. the girls were so excited about feeding the horses and playing with the dogs. the pecan tree grove, the stunning horses and country roads made me feel like i was shooting an ad campaign for ralph lauren. plus, the wood girls are so cute they could be in a magazine!
we have a family tradition that we started when eliza was one. each year, the day after thanksgiving, we trek up to boone to get our christmas tree. we go get a fresh cut tree from a farm, head into boone for lunch and then go out to valle crusis to get our candy fix from the candy barrels at the mast general store.
eliza is a huge horse lover, so we were so excited when we discovered brown’s choose and cut a few years back. first off gary and linda are great folks and their farm is right down from where i lived when i went to ASU (woohoo, go app!), but the best part is that they run a horse powered farm! buck, their giant horse, pulls the kids up the hill through the trees on a sled and then pulls the trees back down to the bagger. buck also pulls the trees through the bagger. the kids love to run wild through the fields and play hide and seek in the trees. the view of the mountains and being surrounded by christmas trees really gets you into the holiday spirit!
i was so happy to shoot the “choice cuts” story for “our state magazine”. eliza and her cousins had a great time at the shoot too!
