one of my favorite times of the year is when i pull together a big stylized shoot for upcoming high school seniors. i come up with the theme, plan a style board for everyone, get wardrobe and gather my amazing team of hair and make-up artists. it is a huge undertaking, but so fun to see my vision come to life!

this year my little liza bean is graduating from 8th grade and she and her friends wanted to do a stylized shoot “like my senior model shoots”. from liza’s conversations with friends at a sleepover the the middle school model retro roller photoshoot was born. this was my first stylized shoot with middle schoolers and we had a blast!

it started out as a 70’s roller skating party shoot and grew from there. Caroline Jessup Cash from The Prettiest Pieces Vintage Rentals helped me pull together 5 different 70’s vignettes. from a roller rink to a 70’s basement we had the decade covered!

the girls totally embraced the 70’s vibe. it was so fun to see them having a blast getting their hair and makeup done, trying on clothes, posing for the camera and making new friends.

i cannot thank all of the people enough who helped bring this vision together!
thanks to Anne Liles for driving up from Southport to shoot with me, Chase Price from RedefineU for our awesome video, Caroline Jessup Cash of The Prettiest Pieces Vintage Rentals for styling and and a versatile studio space, Sarah Grace Johnson (a former whitebox senior model and budding photographer) for assisting, my amazing crew of hair and makeup artisits: Herita Jones of Cosmetic Face Design, Angela Gilbert-lites of Kallos Livebeautiful
Sarah Broyhill, Sarah Smith, Ashley Robinson and Arianna Zapata. Also, thanks to everyone who helped with props and food.

i think the middle school model shoot might have to be a yearly tradition!
