a lot can change in 6 months! i realized that i never posted allie’s photos from her 4 month shoot. when i went back to look at them i was amazed at how much this little cutie has changed in the past 6 months. her wild hair and her cute personality has really started to show.
one of my favorite times of the year is when i pull together a big stylized shoot for upcoming high school seniors. i come up with the theme, plan a style board for everyone, get wardrobe and gather my amazing team of hair and make-up artists. it is a huge undertaking, but so fun to see my vision come to life!
this year my little liza bean is graduating from 8th grade and she and her friends wanted to do a stylized shoot “like my senior model shoots”. from liza’s conversations with friends at a sleepover the the middle school model retro roller photoshoot was born. this was my first stylized shoot with middle schoolers and we had a blast!
it started out as a 70’s roller skating party shoot and grew from there. Caroline Jessup Cash from The Prettiest Pieces Vintage Rentals helped me pull together 5 different 70’s vignettes. from a roller rink to a 70’s basement we had the decade covered!
the girls totally embraced the 70’s vibe. it was so fun to see them having a blast getting their hair and makeup done, trying on clothes, posing for the camera and making new friends.
i cannot thank all of the people enough who helped bring this vision together!
thanks to Anne Liles for driving up from Southport to shoot with me, Chase Price from RedefineU for our awesome video, Caroline Jessup Cash of The Prettiest Pieces Vintage Rentals for styling and and a versatile studio space, Sarah Grace Johnson (a former whitebox senior model and budding photographer) for assisting, my amazing crew of hair and makeup artisits: Herita Jones of Cosmetic Face Design, Angela Gilbert-lites of Kallos Livebeautiful
Sarah Broyhill, Sarah Smith, Ashley Robinson and Arianna Zapata. Also, thanks to everyone who helped with props and food.
i think the middle school model shoot might have to be a yearly tradition!
i love my first year family portrait sessions. it is so fun to watch my whitebox babies grow from their newborn shoot to their 6-8 month shoot to their first birthday session. it is hard to believe that little john arnold is already 6 months! he is such a happy little guy- you gotta love his gummy little smile!
i love this winter family portrait session of the watkins family on the whitebox farm. we may or may not have stopped a few times (or a lot of times) to let our fingers and noses thaw because of the brutal temperatures, but you would never know it from these great smiles! it makes me so happy to capture so much love in this sweet family! hair and make-up by Sarah Broyhill
i loved working with morgan on her downtown winston photo shoot. the camera loves her! she is a super talented dancer and really knows how to move her body for the camera. i am digging the red chucks and the cute dress!
it may be october, but it still feels like summer with this unseasonably warm weather! there is no better way to hang on to that summer fun feeling than a breakfast of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts at the pool with cute puppies!
i have know these babies since birth and it is so fun to watch them grow! what better way to end a summer portrait session than with a run through the sprinkler!
what a sweet family … i had such a great time photographing the sparks family! their new bundle of joy was on the way and willa showed off some of her love for horses!
maddy was a natural at the whitebox photo farm… carefree + beautiful skies + plenty of smiles made for a perfect session at the farm!
thank you for the hospitality lori and forrest! it was so great to hang out with you and these sweet girls in beautiful wilmington!
